Want to start a handbell or chime program but don’t have the instruments? We’ve got you.

BCGEHR offers free, short-term loans of professional-quality handbells and chimes to help choirs, schools, churches, and community groups get ringing—without the upfront cost.

Whether you're launching a new program or testing the waters, this is a great way to make music happen.

What instruments are available?

We currently offer:

• 4.5-octave set of Schulmerich Handbells
  

• 4-octave set of Schulmerich Melody Chimes
  

• 3-octave set of Malmark Choirchimes
  

All are in excellent condition and ready to ring.

How long can I borrow them?

Loan periods are four months:

• Fall: September to December
  

• Spring: February to May

Need more time? You can request an extension—if no one else is on the waiting list, we’re happy to help.

How do I apply?

1. Be a current BCGEHR member in good standing
   
   

2. Consider which instrument you want to borrow:

   • Download the Chime Loan Application (PDF)

   • Download the Bell Loan Application (PDF)
     
     

3. Read the full guidelines on the form—there’s important info about your responsibilities
   
   

4. Fill it out, sign it, and send it back (scan/email or mail, instructions on the form)

Applications are processed in the order they’re received—timing is important!!

Do I need insurance?

Yes. You’ll need to provide proof of insurance for the full replacement value of the instruments and cases.
This can be through:

• A school, church, or organization’s existing insurance
  

• A personal policy (if you’re borrowing privately)
